Vendor Analysis

The most prominent category of vendor continues to grow by proportion. Property companies made up nearly 46% of seller types (42% in 2017). 20% of all lots were contributed by private sellers (22% in 2017).

The proportion of distressed lots fell slightly from 18% of the total to 16.6%. As we enter 2019, we expect that we shall see a rise in distressed selling. This is based upon instructions received and in progress, as well as anecdotal feedback from clients operating in this sector.

Elsewhere, sales on behalf of local authorities have reduced considerably from 6% to 1.76% of the total. Sales on behalf of statutory bodies by comparison have more than doubled. They represented 2% of all lots offered in 2017 and rose to 4.2% in 2018.
